These photographs were taken by my grandfather,
Joseph Dunlop (1855 - 1935), during the turn of the century in the
Sacandaga Valley before the Conklinville Damn (the damn which created
Sacandaga Lake). Joseph Dunlop owned a studio in the Gloversville-Johnstown
area and in the "midway" in Sacandaga Park. In his studio,
he photographed portraits of the many tourists from the New York
City Area. He also photographed the picturesque Sacandaga Valley
before the damn created the lake. Many of his photographs were tin-types
and glass negatives which our family still owns today.
